New Life’s Women are on the move!
We had our kick-off event on Saturday, February 27th.
We will kick-off our Women’s Bible Study on Thursday, March 11 at 6:30 pm. We will conclude our Honoring Black History activities on March 27 (tentatively) with a visit to the Freedman’s Town of Mitchelville on HHI. We are considering starting a singing group.
Honoring Black History Month (Part 1 of 2): Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn Plantation visit & Gullah Lunch on Hilton Head Island.
We had a wonderful initial outing at the museum. We learned about the island’s rich, thriving Gullah society and the beginnings of change once developers took over.
God blessed us with gorgeous weather, so our walk along the trails and marshes
made for a blessed time of fellowship. We observed the oyster beds. butterfly
house, the flowers, the horses, the great far reaching trees and learned much
about the flora and unique animal life of this region.
Our day concluded with an authentic Low Country lunch at the Backyard. restaurant.
Thank you to Myrtle Nunn for arranging a great kick-off event!
